About the role
The Vox Media Podcast Network is seeking an Editorial Director to manage the daily operations and creative strategy for the show On With Kara Swisher. This role serves as the primary bridge between the host and the production team, ensuring high editorial standards while overseeing the show's growth and multi-platform expansion.

- Direct daily production operations, including workflow management, task assignments, and timeline oversight.
- Lead editorial planning to ensure every episode aligns with the show's growth goals and strategic vision.
- Manage the team calendar, including scheduling, vacation coverage, and personnel planning.
- Facilitate pitch and prep meetings to guide story development and editorial choices.
- Review prep documents and provide final editorial feedback for twice-weekly episodes.
- Collaborate with the host and Executive Producer on brand expansion and special projects.
- Analyze audience metrics to refine programming and improve content performance.
- Mentor staff, fostering a collaborative environment that supports professional development.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in audio journalism, podcast production, or editorial leadership.
- Demonstrated success managing fast-paced, high-output editorial teams.
- Deep understanding of the political, tech, and cultural sectors relevant to the show.
- Proven ability to produce long-form, interview-based content with high-profile guests.
- Experience managing an editorial calendar from planning through execution while responding to breaking news.
- Ability to work closely with high-profile talent to translate their vision into operational systems.
- Experience coordinating across departments, including video, social, and audio engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide direct, diplomatic editorial feedback.
- Proficiency in using data and audience analytics to inform editorial decisions.
