Software Engineer - Fullstack

About the role

MOIA America serves as the Volkswagen Group hub for autonomous mobility and transportation technology. You will build software modules for next-generation services including Mobility-as-a-Service, Transport-as-a-Service, and Special Purpose Vehicles like Robo-Taxis.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Improve the resiliency and stability of new and existing microservices.
• Create user interfaces for Fleet, Trip, Map, Mission Control, Remote Operations, and Shared Services.
• Architect UI infrastructure to improve developer productivity and system scalability.
• Maintain high standards for product quality, performance, and security using Jenkins, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Deploy multi-regional, scalable cloud services.
• Write backend services using Java and Kotlin.
• Build web interfaces using React and Typescript.
• Collaborate with international, cross-geographical teams.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and prototyping web-scale distributed systems.
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Python for backend development.
• Proficiency in React and Typescript for frontend development.
• Programming skills in Kotlin, Java, and C++.
• Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, SNS, SQS, and ApacheMQ.
• Knowledge of core Computer Science algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio.
• Experience building and maintaining REST and gRPC APIs with scalable authentication.
• Experience managing infrastructure in AWS or GCP.
• Ability to attend an onsite final interview at one of our locations.

Nice to have

• MSc or PhD degree.
• Experience in agile software environments.
• Experience with Machine Learning frameworks.
• Experience with Test Automation frameworks.

Practical notes

• Salary range is $115,000 to $165,000 per year.

• Role requires international travel to visit ADMT GmbH and Volkswagen AG, as well as travel within the US and Europe.
