Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)
Job description
About the role
Virtuous is actively seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Raise platform team and own the architecture of donor-facing features from initial concept through production deployment. In this capacity, you will design and implement scalable backend services in C# while simultaneously crafting responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks. You will collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate high-level fundraising objectives into technical requirements and executable solutions. This role requires you to take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, ensuring that code quality, system performance, and user experience remain at the forefront of every iteration. You will leverage your expertise to integrate third-party services and optimize the flow of data between the server and the client. Furthermore, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and security of the platform as it scales to meet increasing user demands. Your work will directly influence how charitable organizations engage with their supporters and achieve their missions.
Key facts
What you'll do
Implement robust backend APIs using C# to handle complex donor data and transactional logic with high reliability.
Develop interactive frontend components using JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue, React, or Svelte to create seamless user experiences.
Integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs to connect the frontend interface with backend services and third-party systems.
Utilize AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot to accelerate development while maintaining rigorous engineering standards.
Configure and manage cloud infrastructure on Azure, applying infrastructure-as-code practices with Terraform to ensure consistency.
Optimize database queries and schema designs for relational databases to improve application performance and scalability.
Establish monitoring and observability practices using DataDog to track system health and quickly resolve incidents.
Collaborate with designers to refine user interfaces, focusing on accessibility, responsiveness, and intuitive interactions.
Lead the process of deploying applications through CI/CD pipelines, automating testing and release procedures.
Analyze and resolve complex technical issues, debugging both frontend and backend systems efficiently.
Document system architecture and technical processes to ensure clarity and maintainability for the engineering team.
Participate in code reviews to uphold code quality and share knowledge across the development team.
Guide junior engineers by providing technical direction and mentorship to foster a culture of excellence.
Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to identify opportunities for improving the product development lifecycle.
Ensure that all software releases adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements relevant to handling sensitive data.
