AI Operations Engineer at Virta Health
About the role
This position is central to transforming Virta Health into an AI-driven organization. You will be the go-to technical expert, guiding departments through the implementation of our chosen AI platform to ensure safe and effective use of generative AI for enhanced productivity.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Guide the adoption of our selected agentic AI platform by acting as the primary technical point person, assisting teams with technical needs, identifying workflow improvements, and implementing impactful AI applications.
- Establish financial oversight for AI usage by defining, tracking, and reporting on enterprise AI expenses by department, creating dashboards for efficient resource allocation.
- Collaborate with Information Security and legal teams to review and assess new AI tools and vendors, determining how to integrate them securely.
- Work with internal infrastructure and security engineering teams to translate technical AI guidelines into practical policies that enable business operations.
- Develop and document standardized support processes, training materials, and operating procedures for IT to manage AI-related inquiries and licenses.
Requirements
- Possess 2+ years of experience in agentic AI, IT operations, and business systems implementation, alongside 4 years in technical program management.
- Demonstrate hands-on technical experience deploying, configuring, or supporting generative AI tools like Google Gemini, OpenAI/ChatGPT Enterprise, or Microsoft Copilot in corporate settings.
- Have practical experience integrating with advanced LLMs, multi-agent frameworks, and vector/retrieval systems.
- Exhibit strong foundational software development skills, including proficiency in Python and C++.
- Understand systems integration, including designing with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and connecting AI systems to existing internal databases and web APIs.
- Possess strong analytical abilities and experience building telemetry dashboards using APIs with tools such as Sheets, SQL, or Looker to track API usage, software licenses, or operational costs.
- Show exceptional adaptability and communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and coordinate efforts across IT, Security, and Engineering.
- Have a track record of successfully designing and implementing repeatable AI-driven workflows that resolve team bottlenecks and boost efficiency.
- Maintain a proactive and curious mindset, eager to continuously learn.

- Experience building internal AI platforms, custom copilots, prompt libraries, and AI-agent toolkits tailored for specific business workflows.
- Experience partnering with non-technical teams to pinpoint repetitive tasks and develop rapid, AI-powered solutions.
- Experience establishing security protocols, evaluation frameworks, and system guardrails for safe, scaled deployment of internal AI.
- Experience improving AI understanding across the organization in collaboration with HR and promoting AI adoption.
