Senior SWE / ML Engineer

About the role

This role focuses on the core data infrastructure that drives Vibe's advertising platform. You will join the Data Platform team, specializing in identity resolution. Your work will involve transforming raw event data into actionable user and household identities for targeting and measurement.

What you'll do

• Design and manage data pipelines for a unified view of user identities across all data sources.
• Develop and refine the clustering algorithms that convert raw events into user and household entities.
• Proactively address scalability challenges as data volumes and advertiser usage increase.
• Lead projects from initial requirements gathering through design, implementation, and post-launch improvements.
• Create platform-level tools for identity resolution, enabling other teams to manage their event data.
• Select cost-effective architectures and quantify the financial impact of those choices.
• Define and execute the roadmap for Vibe's identity stack.
• Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders without excessive detail.
• Translate broad requests from Product, Sales, ML, and Finance into specific deliverables.

Requirements

• 5 or more years of experience as an ML engineer, building and operating production services.
• Practical experience with a modern orchestrator like Dagster.
• Hands-on experience with distributed computing systems such as Spark.
• Experience with large-scale data storage solutions like Iceberg.
• Proven ability to manage performance and costs with very large datasets.
• Demonstrated skill in tailoring technical communication for different audiences and aligning stakeholders with varied priorities.
• A focus on delivering value, with good judgment on when to create abstractions and when to keep solutions simple.
• Experience running systems in a production environment, beyond just prototyping.
