Software Engineer, Dashboard
Job description
About the role
Vercel is building the infrastructure for an agentic future, and we need a full stack engineer to transform our Dashboard into a personalized, agent-powered control plane. You will join a new team to rearchitect our core user interface from the ground up, ensuring it serves as the primary hub for developers and teams. In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end user journey, translating high-level product vision into robust, production-grade interfaces. Your work will directly define how developers interact with their deployments, environments, and AI workflows. You will be responsible for creating intuitive abstractions that hide complexity without sacrificing power. This role requires a partnership mindset to align closely with product, design, and engineering stakeholders. You will play a key role in establishing the architectural foundations that will scale for years to come.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop the foundational infrastructure for the Dashboard, including the layout system, navigation, and shared component libraries.
- Design and build backend services and APIs to support real-time notifications, personalization, and agent interactions.
- Optimize performance to ensure every user interaction is instantaneous.
- Create interfaces that allow agents to suggest configuration changes, surface errors, and enforce best practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams like CI/CD, Billing, and Observability to integrate their features into the unified Dashboard shell.
- Deliver code through continuous, incremental updates.
- Implement robust testing strategies to ensure reliability and prevent regressions in a complex UI environment.
- Analyze user behavior and product metrics to drive data-informed improvements to the Dashboard experience.
- Translate ambiguous product requirements into technical specifications and executable prototypes.
- Mentor junior engineers on best practices for frontend architecture and code quality.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production incidents and ensure high availability.
- Contribute to long-term technical documentation for systems and APIs you own.
- Evaluate and adopt new tools and libraries to maintain a competitive edge in developer experience.
- Work cross-functionally to define and standardize design tokens and interaction patterns across the product.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience building software for technical users or developers.
- Proficiency across the stack, specifically with React, TypeScript, and Next.js for the frontend, alongside backend database and API architecture.
- Ability to design reusable abstractions and composable systems rather than isolated solutions.
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments where you must define the path from a problem statement to production code.
- Direct experience using AI tools in your own development process.
- A focus on rapid iteration and shipping features quickly.
- Strong understanding of web fundamentals including HTTP, browser rendering, and security best practices.
- Experience with version control systems, specifically Git, and collaborative code review processes.
