Staff Product Manager, Data Platform

About the role

Vanta is seeking a Staff Product Manager to guide the data platform's strategy and development. This role focuses on enhancing how Vanta collects, stores, and utilizes customer and third-party data at scale. You will be instrumental in enabling core product functionality and business outcomes for Vanta's growing customer base.

What you'll do

• Define the data platform roadmap, collaborating with engineering to make lasting platform investments that benefit customers and products.
• Partner with other product teams to understand their platform needs, anticipating future requirements and balancing immediate and long-term goals.
• Shape Vanta's data platform strategy, aligning it with GRC initiatives and providing clear direction for platform development and adoption.
• Make critical decisions between new feature development and platform stability, offering clear guidance to other teams.
• Promote the data platform internally, encouraging contributions and usage across teams.
• Engage directly with customers to identify unique platform needs and opportunities, delivering features to meet specific outcomes.
• Plan for the platform's scalability over the next 12-18 months, including support for AI-native applications and agent operations.
• Establish and track key metrics for platform investments, focusing on scalability, feature enablement, and data query capabilities.
• Support an existing team of engineers and tech leads dedicated to the data platform.

Requirements

• Six or more years of experience supporting platform teams, with a preference for data platforms or data products.
• Proven experience building new platforms from inception, not just managing existing ones, over extended periods with thorough communication.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with engineering, other product managers, and stakeholders.
• Expertise in using structured frameworks for building complex platforms, including clear sequencing, goal setting, and progress tracking.
• Strong curiosity and a collaborative approach, actively engaging with other teams to understand their platform needs and translate them into requirements.
• Technical proficiency in data platform concepts such as data ingestion/extraction, databases, storage, querying, and APIs.
• An outcome-oriented approach, consistently linking platform efforts to measurable business and customer impacts.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship.
