Front-End Developer Needed for Fine Art Portfolio Website

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented front-end web developer to transform completed Photoshop designs into a responsive website for a New York-based artist. The ideal candidate will have a strong appreciation for design and will be dedicated to accurately translating visual concepts into functional code.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Construct the desktop version of the site based on provided PSD layouts.
• Develop the mobile version of the site from the same PSD designs.
• Ensure the site is responsive and performs well across various devices, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
• Implement swipe navigation for mobile users while also allowing for on-screen control navigation.
• Create a lightbox/modal feature for displaying selected artwork.
• Optimize images for quick loading while preserving high quality.
• Upload the final website to the specified hosting account via FTP.
• Conduct thorough testing in current versions of Safari, Chrome, and popular mobile browsers.
• Provide a brief post-launch period for any minor adjustments.

Requirements

• Proven experience building websites for artists, photographers, museums, galleries, designers, or similar visually-focused clients.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated ability to implement responsive designs.
• Experience with image optimization techniques, including WebP, responsive images, and lazy loading.
• Familiarity with lightbox/modal implementations and swipe navigation features.

Nice to have

• Experience working with design files from Photoshop or Figma.
