About the role
Upstart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance our White Label Platform. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that streamline our lending services. You will play a crucial part in shaping the platform to improve partner onboarding and overall user experience.

What you'll do
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to execute projects that align with company objectives.
- Help design and maintain self-service tools that improve the experience for investors.
- Identify and implement solutions that optimize business processes and workflows.
- Build scalable and reliable systems that cater to both internal users and external investors.
- Ensure the security, performance, and availability of our essential platforms.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and the deployment of high-quality software.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, focusing on full-stack development, distributed systems, and APIs.
- Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scalable APIs, services, and user interfaces that provide partners with access to performance data and operational workflows.
- Proficiency in technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, Vercel, and Python.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying applications in a cloud-native environment.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and real-time data processing frameworks like Kafka or Spark.
- Knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and data warehousing solutions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
Nice to have
- Experience in building platforms that support large-scale operations.
- Background in capital markets, financial services, or related fields, with a solid understanding of market structures and regulations.
- Previous experience or a strong interest in developing internal tools.
- Ability to thrive in diverse work settings, whether collaborative or self-directed, and remote or in-person.
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, or React is a plus.

Practical notes
This position is available for remote work within the United States. As a digital-first organization, most employees can work from anywhere in the U.S. However, regular in-person collaboration is encouraged through team onsites, typically occurring once or twice per quarter for several consecutive days.
At Upstart, your base salary is part of a comprehensive compensation package. The expected salary range for this role is $166,900 to $230,900 USD, depending on your location, skills, experience, and education. Additional details about specific salary ranges can be discussed during the hiring process.
Upstart also offers target bonuses, equity compensation, and a generous benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans.
