What you'll do
- Conduct thorough analyses of asset quality metrics to identify trends and anomalies that may impact portfolio performance.
- Develop and maintain financial models that assess the risk and return profiles of various asset classes.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to enhance predictive models used in underwriting and risk assessment.
- Monitor and report on the performance of existing models, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing findings and actionable insights related to asset quality.
- Participate in the development of new asset quality metrics and benchmarks to improve our evaluation processes.
- Work closely with the risk management team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Assist in the design and execution of stress testing scenarios to evaluate the resilience of our asset portfolios under various economic conditions.
- Engage in continuous learning about industry trends and best practices to keep Upstart at the forefront of asset quality management.
- Support the implementation of new tools and technologies that enhance data analysis capabilities.
- Collaborate with the finance team to align asset quality assessments with overall financial strategy and objectives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, asset management, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling techniques and asset valuation methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Familiarity with risk management principles and regulatory frameworks in the financial services industry.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
