About the role
The Compute team manages the foundational infrastructure that powers every product at Uber. We are seeking a technical leader to architect our next-generation cloud platform and improve the reliability of our global systems.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and develop end-to-end orchestration and monitoring frameworks capable of operating at global scale.
- Mentor engineering staff and provide technical oversight for system design and implementation.
- Develop a multi-cloud compute platform while working with cloud providers to align their roadmaps with our requirements.
- Contribute to Linux open source projects to improve system performance and resource management.
- Guide engineering teams through the full lifecycle of large-scale projects while maintaining high code standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience developing scalable, fault-tolerant platforms and business-critical cloud services.
- Proficiency in Go, C, C++, or Java.
- Demonstrated success leading complex engineering projects from initial design through global production.
- Experience identifying and resolving architectural weaknesses to reduce technical debt.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience managing large fleets of Linux machines and working with container orchestration.
- Background building compute platforms on AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
- Expertise in designing Linux features to optimize fleet-wide resource utilization.
- Experience managing cross-team initiatives.

Practical notes
- Base salary range: $232,000 to $258,000 per year.
- Compensation includes eligibility for the company bonus program and equity awards.
