About the role
Uber Freight is looking for a senior engineer to advance our logistics marketplace and operations through machine learning and generative AI. You will manage the full lifecycle of predictive models, from initial research and prototyping to production deployment and monitoring.

What you'll do
- Develop high-impact solutions for logistics operations using traditional machine learning and generative AI.
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of predictive models, including identification of opportunities, prototyping, and production monitoring.
- Integrate GenAI and agentic systems into the freight platform to drive business value.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to build scalable, production-ready models.
- Communicate complex algorithm designs and technical concepts to leadership and peers.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Software or ML Engineering.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java.
- Proven track record of designing and deploying machine learning models in production environments with large datasets.
- Experience explaining ML system designs and algorithm choices to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to metrics-driven development and analytical product building.
Nice to have
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, ML, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong grasp of ML theory, including deep learning, instance-based learning, and statistical models.
- Experience applying generative AI and large language models in production.
- Background in stream processing tools like Storm, Spark, or Flink and graph processing technologies.
