About the role
This position will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the strategic financial direction of Typeform. You will be instrumental in building a robust finance function that supports the company's global expansion and future ambitions.

What you'll do
- Manage the accounting and controlling functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations across multiple legal entities and countries.
- Act as a strategic partner to the VP of Accounting & Controlling, assisting in setting priorities and guiding the finance team's roadmap.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports and the integrity of the balance sheet.
- Enhance internal control frameworks and ensure adherence to IFRS and regulatory requirements in all operating regions.
- Supervise revenue recognition processes for both subscription and usage-based revenue streams.
- Direct indirect tax strategy and compliance, including VAT/GST and digital services taxes, collaborating with external experts as needed.
- Manage transfer pricing, intercompany accounting, and cross-border financial activities.
- Collaborate with Legal, FP&A, People, and external advisors to support international growth and compliance.
- Lead external audits and statutory reporting, fostering positive relationships with auditors and stakeholders.
- Drive finance transformation projects, focusing on process optimization, automation, and ERP system enhancements.
- Develop internal accounting capabilities to reduce reliance on external service providers.
- Provide leadership and continuity for the accounting function, representing the VP when necessary.
Requirements
- Substantial experience leading accounting and controlling departments within a fast-growing technology or SaaS company.
- Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams in an international, fast-paced business setting.
- Deep technical accounting knowledge, with a strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Demonstrated experience managing accounting for multiple entities and across different jurisdictions.
- Solid grasp of revenue recognition principles, especially for subscription and usage-based models.
- Experience overseeing indirect tax compliance in various countries.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, risk management, and audit procedures.
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership and influencing cross-functional decisions.
- A practical, hands-on leadership approach, with a willingness to engage in detailed tasks.
- Excellent communication abilities and a track record of building trust across an organization.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement, with experience in driving operational excellence and finance transformation.
Nice to have
- Experience leading accounting in a global B2B SaaS company.
- Experience with international expansion, entity establishment, and cross-border financial compliance.
- Strong knowledge of transfer pricing and international tax structures.
- Background from a Big 4 accounting firm or equivalent public accounting experience.
- Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems, particularly NetSuite.
- A history of leading finance transformation, automation, or systems implementation projects.
- Experience preparing organizations for rapid international growth, acquisitions, or IPO readiness.
