About the role
You will design and execute tournament structures for Twitch Rivals, focusing on content that appeals to both creators and viewers. This role involves translating game mechanics into balanced competition formats while managing risk and operational integrity for live events.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create and refine competition formats and game balancing strategies by gathering input from internal teams, publishers, and creators.
- Oversee tournament and production vendors, ensuring the completion of Competition Execution Plans and Pre-Morts to mitigate operational risks.
- Establish team balancing rules and vetting processes, particularly for events lacking standard ELO or MMR systems.
- Lead playtesting sessions with vendors and manage quality assurance for custom game builds.
- Determine prize pool distributions and verify player payouts with the accounting department.
- Draft and submit legal rulesets for all tournaments.
- Maintain competition workflows and documentation using Discord, Google Suite, and Airtable.
- Provide live administration during events, handle escalations, and write post-event incident reports.
- Coordinate with Legal, Partnerships, Business Development, and Community Originals teams to ensure event delivery.
- Optimize scoring systems to provide fast updates for broadcast and viewer engagement.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in esports, professional sports management, or competition operations.
- 3+ years of experience producing content specifically for streamers and creators.
- Ability to analyze game mechanics to adjust formats for specific product goals.
- Experience vetting team balance across various game genres.
- Proven track record of managing vendors and production timelines for high-stakes events.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting complex strategies.

- Deep knowledge of genre-specific game mechanics, such as tactical versus hero FPS.
- Experience working directly with high-profile creators.
- Active involvement in the Twitch community and awareness of current gaming trends.

- Salary range in Los Angeles: $78,900 to $138,100 USD annually.
- Salary range in San Francisco: $86,800 to $151,900 USD annually.
- Compensation includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units.
