About the role

TrueLayer is scaling its finance operations to support a global Pay by Bank network that processes payments for major brands. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, managing statutory reporting, and building scalable processes within a fast-paced environment. You will work remotely to ensure our financial strategy and day-to-day accounting functions remain effective as the company expands.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Lead the monthly accounting close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis across multiple entities.
• Manage the statutory audit process and prepare draft Annual Reports for external auditors.
• Handle VAT reporting, payments, and declarations.
• Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
• Validate payroll files, coordinate with providers, and perform annual social cost reconciliations.
• Create financial reporting packs for the board and senior management.
• Oversee fixed assets, including depreciation and amortisation schedules in NetSuite.
• Monitor trade debtors and creditors to improve debt control.
• Reconcile corporate bank accounts and maintain group-level reconciliation records.
• Contribute to projects aimed at increasing the efficiency of financial workflows.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant status with significant post-qualification industry experience.
• Ability to work independently in a high-growth startup setting.
• Proficiency in NetSuite ERP, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Willingness to take ownership and assist with various operational tasks.

Nice to have

• Background in an accounting practice, startup, or SME.
• Familiarity with the payments sector.
• Experience with regulatory reporting for FCA, CBI, or SFSA.
• Practical knowledge of safeguarding regulations and related audits.
