Senior Product Data Scientist

About the role

Tripadvisor is looking for a senior expert to anchor our product analytics and data science functions. You will define our analytical roadmap, mentor team members, and build models that directly influence our global travel platforms.

What you'll do

• Develop statistical models that improve user recommendations and product features.
• Scale the product analytics team by building automated systems and self-service modeling tools.
• Create predictive, classification, and clustering models to optimize the product experience.
• Research and implement new technologies, including Agentic AI and AI agents, through proof-of-concept projects.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and product management to address user needs through data.
• Design complex AB tests and causal inference frameworks to guide product strategy.
• Mentor product analysts on modeling best practices and experimentation techniques.
• Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience in data science or a related quantitative role.
• Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or a similar quantitative field.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning, multi-arm bandits, and quasi-experimentation.
• Proven ability to define and operationalize product metrics from the ground up.
• Experience building automated processes or data products to scale impact.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to form judgments based on objective evidence.

Nice to have

• Background in software development for building simulations and prototypes.
• Experience combining quantitative data with qualitative research like user surveys.
• Applied knowledge of NLP, Large Language Models, or Agentic AI.
• Expertise in customer segmentation and predictive LTV modeling.
• Previous work in e-commerce, two-sided marketplaces, or travel technology.
