Full Stack Java Developer
Turning Point Global Solutions is actively recruiting a Full Stack Java Developer to join our engineering organization in Rockville, Maryland. This position operates from our office location and follows a hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite and two days remote work. The selected candidate will be responsible for architecting and maintaining Java-based microservices hosted within the AWS cloud ecosystem. In addition to technical execution, this role requires daily mentorship and guidance for engineering staff to ensure best practices are followed.
You will manage the complete lifecycle of technical operations, including the oversight of builds, software installations, upgrades, and patching procedures. System security and scalability are paramount; you will implement controls to ensure applications remain resilient during traffic fluctuations. A significant portion of this position focuses on problem resolution, where you will utilize extensive AWS knowledge to diagnose and address complex technical issues. Your vigilance will ensure system responsiveness remains at an optimal level.

Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days remote)
This position owns the data journey from initial intake through construction, examination, and final release. You will make daily decisions that directly influence Java service performance within the AWS environment. Your guidance will help navigate colleagues through intricate technical scenarios, ensuring that code transitions effectively into production and creates continuous user value.
What you'll do
- Architect and maintain Java-based microservices deployed within the AWS cloud infrastructure to support scalable application objectives.
- Design secure and efficient data intake pipelines that facilitate the safe movement of external information into the Java runtime environment.
- Construct modular, cloud-native services utilizing core Java language constructs and proven AWS deployment methodologies to meet business requirements.
- Examine production system behavior to verify build stability and confirm that software installations complete without errors or performance degradation.
- Coordinate the controlled release of updates only after validating patches, scalability configurations, and system responsiveness metrics against established standards.
- Guide engineering teams through the meticulous implementation of security configurations that safeguard data integrity while preserving high availability.
- Monitor key performance indicators and system telemetry to ensure scalability targets are consistently met during periods of variable traffic and peak demand.
- Coordinate with external technology partners to align integration interfaces and establish robust connection points across distributed system landscapes.
- Provide decisive leadership in troubleshooting complex incidents, resolving intricate technical problems by leveraging deep AWS service knowledge and diagnostic skills.
- Mentor engineering staff through daily guidance, ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Requirements
- Must hold a minimum of three years of hands-on professional experience with Java and related development tools and methodologies.
- Must demonstrate a proven ability to manage the complete lifecycle of builds, installations, upgrades, and patching activities without disruption to production services.
- Must show competence in securing applications and maintaining scalability within cloud platform environments, particularly those utilizing AWS services.
- Must display strong troubleshooting skills specifically for identifying and resolving system responsiveness issues that impact user experience.
- Must provide evidence of extensive AWS knowledge when addressing complex technical problems, designing robust solutions, and implementing infrastructure controls.
- Must perform effectively in a hybrid work environment, adhering to the schedule of three days onsite and two days remote work as required by the operational needs of the team.
