Senior Full Stack Engineer - Insurtech Platform | Remote, Colombia

About the role

Join the ongoing development of a live surplus lines insurance platform that manages policy processing, compliance, and reporting. You will contribute to a complex, operational system, requiring you to quickly grasp its functions and independently deliver solutions across the entire technology stack. This is a long-term role for a skilled engineer proficient in frontend, backend, and workflow orchestration.

What you'll do

• Create, enhance, and support features for both the frontend and backend of the application.
• Integrate and maintain connections with external services and APIs.
• Implement workflow-driven processes utilizing Temporal.
• Develop efficient APIs and backend services using Python.
• Manage and optimize relational databases with PostgreSQL.
• Build reporting and data visualization capabilities with charting tools.
• Contribute to the development of AI-powered features and integrations.
• Enhance continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Participate in architectural discussions to guide future technical direction.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver production-ready software.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in full stack software engineering.
• Strong command of Python, including robust backend API development.
• Solid experience with modern frontend web frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to design and construct scalable applications with sound architecture.
• Practical experience with Temporal and workflow orchestration concepts.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures.
• Proficient in PostgreSQL, SQL, and database modeling.
• Experience creating reporting dashboards with libraries like Chart.js, D3.js, or Plotly.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerized deployments, and cloud environments.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Availability to work during U.S. business hours.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in the insurance industry, particularly surplus lines or compliance-focused applications.
• Experience integrating with third-party vendors and external APIs.
• Familiarity with AI tools, Large Language Model integrations, and context engineering.
