What you'll do
- Manage the core data assets that provide accurate information for critical company operations, ensuring their quality and governance.
- Design scalable data architectures and well-structured dbt/Snowflake layers that perform efficiently with large SaaS datasets.
- Precisely model Stripe data, including payments, subscriptions, and revenue.
- Establish and share standards for SQL optimization, query reuse, documentation, testing, monitoring, and code review to improve team consistency.
- Lead the technical execution of complex BI and analytics projects in Hex, from initial design to production.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and go-to-market teams to translate their needs into impactful data solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a similar individual contributor role, with recent experience in data modeling for consumption.
- Strong understanding of SaaS business metrics (MRR, retention, churn, cohorts, expansion) and the underlying modeling decisions.
- Extensive experience with Snowflake and dbt, including incremental strategies, testing, macros, semi-structured data, and warehouse performance/cost optimization.
- Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to identify potential data inaccuracies before they manifest.
- Deep knowledge of subscription billing and payments data, such as invoices, proration, refunds, and revenue recognition for financial closing.
- Proven track record of managing centralized fact and dimension layers relied upon by the entire company.
- Capability to convert ambiguous business questions into stable data models and elevate team standards through code reviews and documentation.
- An instinct for anticipating potential issues and designing for maintainability.
Nice to have
- Experience using Python for data ingestion (Snowpark, custom connectors, or Fivetran).
- Familiarity with Heap or similar product analytics tools.
- Knowledge of RevOps and CX data stacks (HubSpot, Salesloft, Twilio, Dialpad).
- Previous experience in a startup or high-growth SaaS environment, ideally focused on SMBs or product-led growth.
