Systems Support Engineer

About the role

You will join our consultancy team to manage the daily operations and stability of client application systems. This position involves active incident resolution, participation in DevOps workflows, and the application of modern engineering standards to improve system availability.

What you'll do

• Manage incident response processes and utilize relevant support tools.
• Navigate complex application architectures to debug and resolve business-critical issues.
• Implement operational best practices to enhance system stability and efficiency.
• Apply continuous delivery principles to evolve software and provide value to end users.
• Configure logging, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to enable rapid incident identification.
• Generate performance reports and key metrics to drive system improvements.
• Integrate insights from the Thoughtworks Technology Radar into client solutions.

Requirements

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or .Net.
• Experience with cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Scripting skills in Python or Powershell.
• Ability to troubleshoot code and utilize debugging utilities.
• Experience managing relational or non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines like Jenkins or Azure Pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong English communication skills with the ability to lead discussions with senior stakeholders.
• Resilience in ambiguous environments and the ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements.
• Availability for a 24/7 rotation-based support schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with application monitoring tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• An active presence in the technology community, such as contributing to open source, speaking at events, or writing technical blogs.
