Accountant[Fixed Asset at Thoughtworks
About the role
Thoughtworks is building an Accounting Center of Excellence to standardize global financial operations and improve scalability. As the Fixed Asset COE Lead, you will manage the entire lifecycle of global property, plant, equipment, leases, and intangible assets. You will provide technical oversight, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor a team while collaborating with international stakeholders.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the end-to-end accounting lifecycle for PP&E, ROU assets, and intangible assets, including capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and disposal.
- Execute monthly close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations, while ensuring adherence to US GAAP (ASC 360, ASC 350) and IFRS 16/ASC 842 lease standards.
- Oversee software capitalization (IDS/ASC 350-40), including eligibility assessments and cost tracking.
- Design and monitor SOX/ICFR controls and serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits.
- Lead process automation and standardization initiatives to improve efficiency across global regions.
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and IT teams to forecast capital expenditures and manage acquisition-related accounting.
- Mentor and develop team members to foster a culture of technical accuracy and ownership.
Requirements
- Qualified CA, CPA, or CMA.
- 5-7 years of post-qualification experience in fixed asset accounting, technical accounting, or controllership.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP and IFRS lease accounting standards.
- Proven experience with SOX/ICFR compliance and audit support.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with large asset registers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with global stakeholders and adjust working hours across time zones.
- Experience leading or mentoring accounting teams.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft Financials or similar ERP systems.
- Familiarity with local statutory reporting requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience using CoStar for lease management.
- Background in a global technology or professional services firm with a distributed delivery model.
