About the role
Thinkahead is seeking a technical expert to manage cloud infrastructure, automation, and cost governance for enterprise clients. You will bridge the gap between engineering and finance by optimizing cloud spend and implementing robust infrastructure standards. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical execution and strategic communication with stakeholders.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage and refine cost allocation models, budgets, and automated alerts across cloud environments.
- Enforce resource tagging standards to ensure at least 90% coverage for cost-critical data.
- Build and maintain cost-visibility dashboards using Power BI or native cloud reporting tools.
- Execute resource rightsizing and manage Reserved Instances or Savings Plans for AWS and Azure.
- Implement policy-as-code using Terraform, Bicep, or native cloud policy engines.
- Automate remediation workflows and contribute to CI/CD pipeline management via GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
- Partner with Finance and SRE teams to forecast spending and improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in a customer-facing technical role.
- Minimum 3 years designing and deploying large-scale cloud applications.
- 1 to 2 years of specific experience in FinOps or cloud cost optimization, with a focus on AWS.
- Proficiency in AWS and Azure cost management, including forecasting and utilization optimization.
- Architect-level development skills in Python, PowerShell, or Java.
- Strong networking knowledge, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups.
- Experience with multi-account AWS environments, including Organizations, Control Tower, and SCPs.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD platforms like GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience working within regulated frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or HITRUST.
Nice to have
- Experience with third-party FinOps platforms such as Apptio Cloudability, VMware Aria/CloudHealth, or Kubecost.
- Familiarity with security tools like Cloud Custodian, Trivy, or HashiCorp Vault.
- Experience with container security and image scanning for Amazon EKS or ECS.

- Observability: Amazon CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Grafana.
