About the role
The Pestilli Lab in the Department of Psychology is seeking an engineer to build systems that store, process, and share neuroscience data. You will support global research collaborations by developing technical infrastructure that makes brain and health data more accessible for scientific discovery. This role is a fixed-term position expected to last until August 31, 2027.

What you'll do
- Architect and build database systems to manage large-scale neuroscience datasets while ensuring security and data integrity.
- Design and maintain cloud-based infrastructure for data storage, processing, and analysis.
- Use Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for code, databases, and development workflows.
- Partner with research teams to translate their data needs into functional technical solutions.
- Monitor system performance to minimize latency and improve data retrieval speeds.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in back-end development, specifically within database infrastructure and cloud computing.
- Proficiency in database management systems, including PostgreSQL and NoSQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and an understanding of Kubernetes orchestration.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
- Understanding of data privacy and security best practices.
Nice to have
- Three or more years of professional experience in back-end development, database infrastructure, and cloud computing.
- Advanced academic degrees in relevant fields.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach to teamwork.
