Software Engineer

About the role

Texas Research International is seeking a software engineer to join our 40-person team in southwest Austin. You will focus on improving the usability and deployment of our internal engineering codebase to better manage complex scientific datasets.

What you'll do

• Develop and support software tools for the analysis of large-scale engineering and scientific data.
• Refactor and maintain existing code written in Python, C, and C++.
• Collaborate with other developers to improve the deployment and long-term maintainability of our internal systems.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, which typically span 1 to 3 years each.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science.
• Professional experience programming in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience building graphical user interfaces.
• Proficiency working in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Must be eligible to obtain a US DoD security clearance.
• Ability to work on-site in Austin.

Nice to have

• Experience working within a CMMC level 2 cybersecurity environment.
• Background in mathematics, algorithm development, or graphics development.
• Knowledge of GPU computing, computer vision, or digital signal processing.
• Experience with hardware-software interfaces for automation, motion control, or data collection.
• Familiarity with third-party software integration.
• Interest in software architecture patterns and optimization techniques.
