Electrical Engineer

About the role

Texas Research Institute Austin is looking for an electrical engineer to join our Non-Destructive Evaluation division. You will contribute to the design and integration of sensors, instrumentation, and software for government and private sector projects.

What you'll do

• Create low-voltage AC and DC power distribution systems.
• Build and manage multi-axis motion control setups.
• Develop custom sensors and integrate commercial hardware.
• Use APIs to manage electronic systems.
• Design, test, and audit PCBs and circuit boards.
• Assemble systems based on schematics and technical documentation.
• Apply digital signal processing to sensor data.
• Build embedded systems using bare-metal programming.
• Program FPGA and microcontroller systems.
• Repair and maintain legacy electronics.
• Produce technical reports and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in an electrical engineering field.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Ability to secure a U.S. DoD security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in both office and laboratory environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with THz or other NDE measurement data.
• Background in eddy current, ultrasound, or EM inspection methods.
• Knowledge of RF, analog, or microwave circuit design.

Skills & tools

• PCB design and simulation software such as Altium or KiCAD.
• Technical writing.
• Embedded programming.

Practical notes

• This position requires physical presence in our SW Austin office.
• Occasional travel is required.
