Mobile Platform Developer

About the role

Tailscale is creating a new standard for internet connectivity, making it simple and secure for devices and people to communicate. We are looking for an engineer to enhance our product, with a particular focus on our mobile applications for iOS and Android.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop client-side code for Tailscale, contributing to both mobile platforms and shared codebases.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests for mobile applications.
• Integrate new features from the latest Apple and Android releases while ensuring compatibility with older system versions.
• Contribute to the development of common code that supports other client platforms like macOS and Windows.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.
• Deep understanding of software development principles and the capabilities and limitations of mobile operating systems.
• Proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, and/or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with general networking concepts including DNS, VPNs, IP networking, and routing.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• The capacity to provide and receive constructive feedback, and to work autonomously.
• Adaptability to the fast-paced environment of a growing company.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go.
• Familiarity with mobile VPN infrastructure.

Practical notes

• Salary range: $163,000 - $204,000 USD.
• Compensation includes base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
• Benefits include health, vision, dental, retirement contributions (0.75% match), professional development allowance ($1500 USD annually), home office setup ($500 USD), and internet reimbursement.
• Paid time off and parental leave programs (20 weeks for birthing parents, 16 weeks for non-birthing parents).
