This role involves collaborating closely with various teams to understand their requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions that simplify their daily work.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Enhance system visibility through metrics, alerts, logging, and telemetry.
- Develop and refine our continuous deployment pipelines.
- Implement infrastructure as code for managing cloud environments.
- Partner with other engineering groups on cross-functional infrastructure projects.
- Automate the update processes for managed services and virtual machines.
- Design, build, test, and document essential software components.
- Take ownership of running services, focusing on observability and incident response.
- Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience with CI/CD, secrets management, infrastructure as code, and observability tools.
- Experience working with distributed systems.
- Experience operating managed services within a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with networking concepts like IP addressing and routing.
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, and to work autonomously.
- Adaptability to the fast-paced nature of a startup.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Nice to have
- Experience operating Kubernetes in a production setting.
- Familiarity with the Go programming language.

Salary range: $181,000 - $226,000 USD
Tailscale offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits with no waiting period. Benefits include health, vision, dental, employer-funded retirement contributions (matching up to 0.75% of eligible compensation), professional development budget ($1500 USD annually), paid time off, home office setup allowance ($500 USD), and paid parental leave (20 weeks for birthing parents, 16 weeks for non-birthing parents).
