Founding Solutions Engineer

About the role

Tailscale is looking for a technical expert to serve as our first Solutions Engineer in Singapore to spearhead our expansion across the APAC region. You will partner with sales teams to manage complex deals, architect secure solutions, and act as the primary technical voice for our product in the market.

What you'll do

• Define regional technical execution strategies and build market presence.
• Collaborate with Account Executives to qualify opportunities and manage the sales pipeline.
• Lead discovery sessions, product demonstrations, and technical proof of concepts.
• Write code and develop custom integrations to resolve technical barriers for strategic customers.
• Provide structured feedback to product and engineering teams based on regional architectural trends.
• Create reusable demo environments, whitepapers, and documentation.
• Coordinate with local customer-facing teams to establish company culture and service delivery.

Requirements

• 4-5+ years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect role for cloud, security, or networking platforms.
• Experience operating in an early-stage startup environment where you must build processes from scratch.
• Proficiency in networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
• Knowledge of zero-trust networking, secure connectivity, and IAM integrations like SSO, SAML, and OIDC.
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments like AWS, GCP, or Azure and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to travel within APAC and occasionally to North America for internal meetings and conferences.
• Willingness to overlap with NAMER and EMEA time zones for the first 3 months and on an ongoing basis for collaboration.

• Compensation includes base salary, equity, and commission.
