What you'll do

• Operate and maintain various types of machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and CNC machines, to produce precision parts according to specifications.
• Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine machining processes and tolerances, ensuring accuracy in every project.
• Conduct regular inspections of machined components to verify adherence to quality standards and make necessary adjustments to machinery as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize machining processes and improve overall efficiency in the manufacturing workflow.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
• Document production activities, including machine settings, production quantities, and any discrepancies, to maintain accurate records for quality assurance.
• Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and stay updated on the latest machining technologies and techniques.
• Assist in the setup and calibration of new machinery and tools, ensuring they are ready for production use.
• Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that all finished products meet the required specifications and standards.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior machinists, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Engage in problem-solving discussions with team members to identify areas for process enhancement and implement innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a machinist, with a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in operating CNC machines, lathes, and milling machines, with a solid understanding of machining processes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
• Familiarity with various measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to ensure precision in machining.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine programming.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with programming CNC machines using G-code or similar languages.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM software for designing and optimizing machining processes.
• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a machining environment.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
