This role focuses on improving the daily experience for engineers, from initial setup to production deployment. You will be responsible for building and integrating tools that enhance local development, code review, testing, and continuous integration. The goal is to reduce friction and optimize the entire development cycle.

What you'll do
- Enhance the local development workflow and ensure environment stability.
- Make onboarding and setup self-service for all engineers.
- Improve the daily editing experience, including IDE tools and code search.
- Create project scaffolding and templates to streamline development.
- Accelerate build, test, and continuous integration processes.
- Optimize CI pipelines, parallelize tests, and aggressively cache builds.
- Integrate and refine code review tools and automated review processes.
- Evaluate and integrate AI coding assistants into workflows.
- Measure the effectiveness of AI tools to ensure valuable investments.
- Promote engineering best practices and track productivity metrics like DORA.
- Monitor code quality signals and establish automation to catch issues early.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on developer productivity, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Strong interest in developer experience and improving engineering workflows.
- Proficient in Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust, and shell scripting for internal tool development.
- Experience with CI/CD systems and pipeline optimization (e.g., Github Actions, ArgoCD).
- Familiarity with local development environments and reproducibility (e.g., devcontainers, Nix, Docker).
- Knowledge of containerization and image optimization.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and understanding their practical applications.
- Background in test infrastructure, orchestration, and techniques like mutation or chaos testing.
- Experience with code review and developer workflow tooling.
- Familiarity with monorepo tools, build systems, and package managers (e.g., pnpm, Nx, Turborepo).
- Experience with developer productivity metrics (e.g., DORA) and data-driven improvements.
- Proven ability to make local development environments stable and reproducible.
- Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in asynchronous or globally distributed teams.
