About the role
Stripe is seeking a legal professional to guide the development and launch of our financial infrastructure products. You will partner with engineering and product teams to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and support the growth of our Payments and Terminal services.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide direct legal support to the Payments and Terminal product groups, focusing on service expansion and issue resolution.
- Advise on regulatory requirements, payment scheme rules, consumer protection, marketing compliance, intellectual property, and data privacy.
- Coordinate with compliance, engineering, business development, and marketing departments during the product lifecycle.
- Partner with the broader legal team to address regulatory structures, customer agreements, and financial partnerships.
- Design and implement efficient workflows for legal reviews and product launches.
- Author and revise core documentation for services and products.
- Monitor developments in international and US law regarding data security, finance, and consumer protection.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a qualified attorney handling complex technology or regulatory matters.
- Demonstrated ability to grasp intricate business models and technical product use cases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven project management abilities and the capacity to meet strict deadlines.
- Sound judgment and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations.
Nice to have
- Background in financial technology, payments, risk, or financial services regulation.
- Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, specifically regarding hardware, logistics, supply chain, or transportation.

Practical notes
The annual Canadian base salary for this position is $160,000 to $240,000. Candidates should possess the required legal qualifications to be considered.
