About the role
Join the Intercept team, a $500M philanthropic initiative dedicated to eliminating the threat of respiratory viruses. You will manage investments and grants to accelerate the development of broad-spectrum preventatives and air-cleaning technologies.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build and manage the investment pipeline by networking with founders, researchers, and other funders.
- Lead the full lifecycle of investments and grants, from initial technical diligence to transaction execution and internal approvals.
- Create strategic viewpoints on scientific approaches like T-cell vaccines, siRNA, and innate immune stimulators to guide capital deployment.
- Manage a CRM to track projects and ensure early identification of high-potential opportunities.
- Support portfolio companies by identifying and removing regulatory, clinical, or technical bottlenecks to accelerate product timelines.
- Map the ecosystem to understand demand-side challenges, including reimbursement, adoption, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- MD or PhD in immunology or infectious disease combined with at least 2 years of experience in business development, grantmaking, or investing.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of experience as a biotech investor focusing on immunology or infectious disease at a venture capital firm.
- Demonstrated experience in portfolio construction and post-award management.
- Proven ability to convert complex scientific findings into clear investment strategies.
- Background in product development or significant exposure to supporting companies through development milestones.
- Strong project management skills with a self-directed, action-oriented approach.
Nice to have
- Experience in biosecurity, global health, or public health.
- MBA or MPH degrees.
- Background in managing non-dilutive funding or grant programs.
