Backend Engineer, Developer SDKs

About the role

You will maintain and evolve the open-source SDKs that serve as the primary interface for Stripe integrations. Your work directly impacts how developers interact with our financial infrastructure across seven programming languages.

What you'll do

• Act as the primary Golang specialist to ensure our SDKs follow idiomatic patterns.
• Enhance our internal code generation framework using Node.js to support future open-source initiatives.
• Partner with internal teams to integrate new APIs into our SDKs and optimize release workflows.
• Refine the internal API authoring lifecycle.
• Engage with the developer community by managing issues and contributions on our GitHub repositories.
• Implement new language-specific features within our libraries.
• Guide product teams on API design to ensure abstractions are intuitive for end users.
• Provide technical mentorship and support to your teammates.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of dedicated experience working with Golang.
• Interest in working across a diverse set of programming languages.
• Focus on API design and the quality of developer tools.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in PHP and Ruby.
• Background in developing software libraries or SDKs.
• Familiarity with Open API specifications and protobuf.
