CNC Machinist Setup & Operation - LATHE at starpath.space.

Join our team to create high-precision components for advanced robotics. This role involves setting up and operating CNC lathes, troubleshooting, and taking full ownership of parts from design to completion. We are looking for individuals who value craftsmanship and speed in manufacturing.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Set up and operate 2-axis CNC lathes for aerospace robotics manufacturing.
- Edit and refine programs using OKUMA G-code.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM models, and GD&T to develop machining plans.
- Perform machine setups, including soft jaw cutting, collet changes, tooling, and offsets.
- Inspect parts after each operation using various inspection tools.
- Maintain detailed records of print mark-ups, programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.
- Optimize tooling, speeds, and feeds for efficiency and tool longevity.
- Perform general shop duties like saw cutting, deburring, and using grinders.
- Keep the work environment clean and organized.
- Troubleshoot issues and optimize processes within the machine shop.
- Mentor team members and share best practices.
- Assist with product assembly and other tasks to support team goals.
- Contribute to machine maintenance and repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years of CNC machining experience.
- Strong knowledge of 2-axis CNC turning.
- Proficiency with OKUMA OSP controls and G-code, or a willingness to learn them.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance.
- Frequent standing, bending, grasping, and pulling.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
Nice to have
- 5 or more years of CNC machining experience.
- Expertise in CNC turning operations like boring, grooving, threading, and drilling using various chucks and collets.
- Experience with complex turning contours and aerospace applications.
- Background in optimizing processes for productivity, quality, and repeatability.
- Familiarity with feeds, speeds, and tooling for materials such as 6061/7075 aluminum, 300/400 series stainless steel, carbon steels, and plastics.
- Experience mentoring colleagues and leading shop projects.
