About the role
Join Starpath Robotics to advance the field of robotics through precision manufacturing. This position focuses on creating high-precision components for next-generation space technology. We are looking for an expert in 2-axis CNC lathe programming and machining.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Program and operate 2-axis CNC Lathes, specifically OKUMA Genos L250 II machines, for aerospace robotics.
- Develop and refine G-code programs for Okuma controls using Fusion CAM, Mastercam, or NX CAM.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM models, and GD&T specifications to create machining strategies.
- Generate comprehensive tool lists and perform machine setups and operations.
- Maintain detailed records of print markups, programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.
- Optimize tooling selection, speeds, and feeds for various materials including aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steels, and plastics.
- Design and machine custom fixture tooling as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to enhance manufacturability.
- Provide machine shop troubleshooting, optimization, and mentorship to team members.
- Assist with product assembly and machine maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 8 or more years of experience in CNC programming and machining.
- Expert-level proficiency in CNC turning operations such as boring, grooving, threading, and drilling.
- Experience with chuck work using hard jaws, soft jaws, collets, and on-center turning.
- Proficient in Okuma OSP control operation and G-code programming (New 2026).
- Experience with Fusion 360, Mastercam, or NX CAM, or other CAM systems.
- Strong background in complex turning contours and aerospace applications.
- Proven ability to optimize processes for productivity, quality, and repeatability.
- Familiarity with tooling and parameters for materials like 6061/7075 aluminum, 300/400 series stainless steel, carbon steels, and plastics.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or leading shop projects.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Frequent standing, bending, grasping, and pulling required.
- Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) due to export control regulations.
