Key facts
What you'll do
- Program and operate CNC mills (3-axis, 4th-axis rotary, 5-axis) for aerospace robotics, including HASS UMC 750 (5-axis) and HASS VF- series, plus conventional turning and milling.
- Develop, modify, and refine HASS G-code programs using CAM software like Fusion CAM, Mastercam, or NX CAM.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM models, and GD&T specifications to devise effective machining plans.
- Generate comprehensive tool lists.
- Execute machine setups and operate CNC equipment.
- Maintain meticulous records of print markups, programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.
- Select and fine-tune tooling, adjusting speeds and feeds for optimal efficiency and tool longevity.
- Design and fabricate custom fixture tooling as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams, offering feedback to enhance manufacturability.
- Manage the machine shop, providing troubleshooting and optimization expertise.
- Mentor team members and share best practices to elevate overall team performance.
- Assist with product assembly and other tasks beyond machining to support team objectives.
- Perform necessary maintenance, cleaning, upkeep, and repairs of machinery.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eight or more years of experience in CNC programming and machining.
- Expert proficiency in 3-axis CNC milling, 4th-axis rotary, and 5-axis machining.
- Skilled in operating and programming Haas controls (both new and old) using G-code.
- Proficient in Fusion 360, Mastercam, or NX CAM, with strong skills in other CAM platforms also accepted.
- Expertise in programming and operating multi-axis mill and lathe CNC machines.
- Strong background in complex surfacing, swarf cuts, contours, and aerospace applications.
- Experience optimizing processes for productivity, quality, and repeatability.
- Familiarity with appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling for various materials, including 6061/7075 aluminum, 300/400 series stainless steel, carbon steels, Inconel, and plastics.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or leading shop projects.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance.
- Frequent standing, bending, grasping, and pulling required for shop floor activities.
- Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) due to export control regulations.
