About the role
Starbucks is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data & Analytics team. In this position, you will collaborate with various teams to analyze complex data and develop essential data science models. Your insights will support strategic business decisions and enhance operational workflows.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Gather, process, and validate data using SQL and other frameworks to create datasets that are ready for analysis and support decision-making.
- Develop and refine data science models and pipelines, enhancing existing models and creating new ones for training and output within shared codebases.
- Present insights effectively by explaining your methodology, creating dashboards and visualizations for monitoring model performance, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in data science, applied analytics, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python and/or R for data preparation, pipeline creation, and modeling.
- Familiarity with common modeling techniques such as regression, classification, decision trees, clustering, and causal inference.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
Nice to have
- A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Psychology, or a related field.
- An advanced degree (MS or PhD) is preferred.
- Experience in collaborative analytics or engineering settings, including version control and documentation.
- Background in model measurement and monitoring through dashboards and performance reporting.
