Senior Staff Engineer

About the role

You will architect and build a new, scalable platform focused on business-critical ecommerce capabilities. This role involves setting technical standards and designing foundational architecture to support long-term growth and operational excellence.

What you'll do

• Develop a multi-tenant 3PL platform that supports external clients with unique catalogs, inventory, and fulfillment requirements.
• Build core systems for order routing, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
• Create reusable components to enable fast onboarding for new 3PL clients.
• Ensure real-time visibility of orders and inventory for internal teams and external partners.
• Design observable, self-healing fulfillment pipelines that meet defined SLAs.
• Implement AI-driven automation to minimize manual work in returns, billing disputes, and shipping exceptions.
• Provide architectural leadership as the platform scales from initial clients to broad adoption.

Requirements

• 6 to 8+ years of experience in building and deploying production-grade backend systems.
• Proven ability to lead the technical direction of a team or workstream through mentorship and design reviews.
• Experience working in fast-paced, 0-to-1 environments.
• Strong knowledge of backend fundamentals including data modeling, API design, databases, and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud-native service design and cloud platforms, with a preference for AWS.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, including streams, queues, and asynchronous processing.
• Proficiency in debugging, testing, and production support.
• Ability to influence and align engineering teams without formal authority.
• Strong communication skills for async, distributed environments.

Nice to have

• Background in logistics, warehouse management systems (WMS), or ecommerce order management.
• Experience with EDI standards or 3PL integration patterns.
• Practical knowledge of integrating machine learning model outputs into application logic.
