What you'll do

• Engineer and scale ML systems for proactive content detection and pre-publish safety scanning.
• Create policy evaluation frameworks that include offline and online metrics, standardized datasets, and iterative improvement cycles.
• Construct multimodal models that process text, audio, image, and video signals for policy enforcement.
• Build feedback loops that convert human reviewer insights into structured training data.
• Convert regulatory and compliance requirements into technical ML system designs.
• Collaborate with Legal, Trust & Safety, and Public Affairs to ensure safe product experiences.
• Guide long-term platform architecture and provide technical leadership in ambiguous environments.
• Mentor machine learning engineers to improve team output and technical standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience shipping production-grade machine learning systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of ML evaluation, including model performance monitoring, metrics, and dataset design.
• Practical experience with multimodal ML systems involving text, audio, image, or video.
• Experience with human-in-the-loop systems, active learning, or feedback-driven model training.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory or policy constraints into technical solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
• Experience managing ambiguity while balancing speed, quality, and risk.
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Practical notes

The US base salary range for this role is $227,495 to $324,993 USD, plus equity. Benefits include health insurance, six months of paid parental leave, a 401(k) plan, a monthly meal allowance, 23 days of paid time off, 13 flexible holidays, and paid sick leave.
