Fullstack Engineer - Subscriptions

About the role

This role focuses on the Subscriptions Mission, which manages the systems behind Spotify Premium. You will join the Monaco squad to build internal tools that allow business teams to manage pricing, promotions, and subscription offers.

What you'll do

• Develop full-stack features including web interfaces, backend services, and data platforms for the global subscription business.
• Design internal products that allow teams to configure and launch Premium offers via secure workflows.
• Build and maintain backend services for prepaid products, pricing updates, and subscription lifecycles.
• Create GraphQL and gRPC APIs to link frontend applications with distributed services.
• Manage database schemas, perform migrations, and tune performance within PostgreSQL.
• Construct auditable, secure systems that meet financial and SOX-compliance standards.
• Work with the Subscriptions Mission to improve platform reliability and developer tooling.
• Participate in technical architecture planning, code reviews, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Professional experience delivering production software across frontend and backend environments.
• Experience developing scalable backend services using Java.
• Proficiency in building modern web applications with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Experience designing or consuming GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Ability to collaborate with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java 17+.
• Familiarity with jOOQ, Flyway, Apollo GraphQL, DataLoader, Styled Components, Storybook, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS, or Material UI.
• Background in commerce platforms, pricing systems, or large-scale distributed architecture.
