IC4 - Software Engineer Backend

About the role

Spin is looking for a backend software engineer to build, refine, and scale advanced software systems. You will guide code quality practices, integrate APIs, and help define technical workflows while mentoring other developers on the team.

What you'll do

• Architect, build, and improve backend software solutions
• Lead code review sessions and uphold quality benchmarks
• Create and maintain APIs that connect with internal and external systems
• Define and streamline processes across the development lifecycle
• Deploy and manage containerized applications for scalability and efficiency
• Collaborate with Architecture, Data Management, and DevOps groups during agile sprints
• Capture functional and non-functional requirements as JIRA stories
• Translate business needs into technical implementations alongside cross-functional teams
• Write and maintain documentation for architectures, procedures, and tooling
• Build automation scripts for deployments and operational tasks
• Manage version control workflows including branching and merging strategies
• Operate and monitor production systems, ensuring uptime and performance
• Troubleshoot scalability and performance bottlenecks with SRE teams
• Coach teammates and encourage self-management and accountability
• Act as a culture ambassador, supporting an inclusive and positive workplace

Requirements

• 4 to 5 years minimum experience as a Software Engineer
• 4 years professional Java development in a team setting
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate
• Testing experience with JUnit and Mockito
• Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL
• Familiarity with Maven, Gradle, Github Actions, Sonar Cloud
• Solid grasp of design patterns, software architecture, and SOLID principles
• Hands-on experience with TDD, ATDD, or BDD methodologies
• Demonstrated secure development practices using SAST and DAST tools
• Background in Scrum workflows and Jira administration
• Experience building microservices and consuming REST and RESTful APIs
• API First design mindset
• Proven container-based development experience
• Proficiency with Git, merge conflict resolution, and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to lead projects and teams while meeting deadlines and quality targets
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Adaptability to shifting priorities and fast-paced environments
• Willingness to learn new technologies within Spin and Digital@FEMSA tech stacks
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills

Nice to have

• Experience managing application and system configurations for consistency
• Familiarity with CloudFormation or Terraform for infrastructure as code
• AWS experience for automating infrastructure provisioning
