About the role
Spin Careers is seeking a senior database expert to oversee the design and maintenance of our data infrastructure. You will drive architectural improvements, automate operational tasks, and provide technical mentorship to our engineering teams to ensure high performance and data integrity.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create and maintain scripts to automate database tasks such as patching, backups, and provisioning.
- Build monitoring systems to track performance and refine complex queries.
- Manage database clusters, focusing on replication and sharding to support system growth.
- Direct the response to database incidents and resolve performance bottlenecks or data issues.
- Develop and validate disaster recovery plans, failover strategies, and backup protocols.
- Apply security controls, including encryption and access management, to meet compliance standards.
- Advise development teams on data modeling and lead the integration of new database technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 7 years working in database administration or data infrastructure engineering.
- Expertise in database normalization, indexing, and distributed system architecture.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and NoSQL solutions like MongoDB.
- Experience with cloud-native database services such as AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and GCP Cloud SQL.
- Ability to write infrastructure-as-code and automation scripts.
- Intermediate English proficiency.
- Demonstrated history of mentoring junior staff and leading technical strategy.
