About the role

This role involves leading and mentoring a team of data engineers within a Credit Fintech company, aligning their work with the overall data strategy. You will combine technical leadership with people management, ensuring the team delivers high-quality data solutions that meet organizational objectives and create business value. The position requires identifying and mitigating risks, establishing code quality standards and best practices, and cultivating a secure, compliant, and data-driven culture.

What you'll do

• Understand business strategy and collaborate on designing data products and solutions.
• Conduct discovery sessions to identify necessary data ingestions and processes that add business value.
• Involve all relevant departments during the discovery phase to confirm input availability and data solution viability, defining clear scopes to prevent reworks from incomplete definitions.
• Support data engineers in refining estimates, considering timelines from all involved areas (architecture, security, SRE, data governance), including deployment, and ensure timely, high-quality deliveries.
• Contribute to planning backlog tasks once a data project, product, or solution is approved.
• Provide sprint status reports for assigned data projects or solutions to the business, ensuring timely and quality deliveries.
• Proactively inform the business of risks to facilitate mitigation or contingency planning.
• Review data engineers' work, offering guidance if development does not meet established standards or best practices.
• Conduct regular team rituals and weekly one-on-one meetings with data engineers to address questions, identify performance needs, and encourage adherence to best practices and guidelines.
• Actively contribute to all phases of the data engineering lifecycle using Agile methodology, aiming for timely, quality deliveries without reworks.
