About the role
This role supports SpaceX's Texas Test Operations by acquiring hardware and equipment essential for developing, testing, and validating launch systems. You will work within a forward-thinking procurement team, aiming to redefine traditional purchasing methods. The position involves direct interaction with engineering and operations to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and execute strategies for sourcing, delivery schedules, and cost control to ensure test equipment availability.
- Cultivate relationships with internal teams to establish strategic sourcing models that maximize product and service value.
- Develop sourcing plans to mitigate risks and meet departmental targets for payment terms, cash flow, on-time delivery, and cost savings.
- Monitor MRP signals and place orders to align with critical part requirements.
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives, including planning, stakeholder coordination, timeline estimation, and progress reporting.
- Conduct advanced quantitative analysis to assess financial impacts of decisions and supplier performance.
- Analyze business processes and develop models to improve cost efficiency.
- Perform research, benchmarking, and market analysis.
- Process purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices.
- Work with the planning department to transition one-off material orders to planned delivery schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of experience in engineering, supply chain, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations management, or material cost control; OR 4+ years of experience in one of these fields.
Nice to have
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, or material planning for raw materials and equipment.
- Background working with material planners to address and resolve schedule risks related to material availability.
- Strong skills in budget tracking and cost analysis.
- Proficiency in contract negotiation and document management.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on rapid solutions.
- Quick learning capability and ability to prioritize effectively to meet company and customer needs.

Practical notes

- This position requires being on-site in McGregor, TX; remote work is not an option.
