Sourcing Specialist, Test Hardware and Equipment

About the role

This role supports SpaceX's Texas Test Operations by acquiring hardware and equipment essential for developing, testing, and validating launch systems. You will work within a forward-thinking procurement team, aiming to redefine traditional purchasing methods. The position involves direct interaction with engineering and operations to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and execute strategies for sourcing, delivery schedules, and cost control to ensure test equipment availability.
• Cultivate relationships with internal teams to establish strategic sourcing models that maximize product and service value.
• Develop sourcing plans to mitigate risks and meet departmental targets for payment terms, cash flow, on-time delivery, and cost savings.
• Monitor MRP signals and place orders to align with critical part requirements.
• Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives, including planning, stakeholder coordination, timeline estimation, and progress reporting.
• Conduct advanced quantitative analysis to assess financial impacts of decisions and supplier performance.
• Analyze business processes and develop models to improve cost efficiency.
• Perform research, benchmarking, and market analysis.
• Process purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices.
• Work with the planning department to transition one-off material orders to planned delivery schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of experience in engineering, supply chain, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations management, or material cost control; OR 4+ years of experience in one of these fields.

Nice to have

• Experience in procurement, sourcing, or material planning for raw materials and equipment.
• Background working with material planners to address and resolve schedule risks related to material availability.
