About the role
SpaceX is developing technology to enable human life on Mars. This role focuses on the Raptor flight engine, managing hardware through the full lifecycle from initial design to flight operations.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, analyze, and develop Raptor propulsion systems.
- Manage engine performance during live test and flight operations as a primary console operator.
- Automate data analysis for test and flight results to improve reliability and launch cadence.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines including software, avionics, stage propulsion, and mission management.
- Troubleshoot hardware in the field and perform walkdowns.
- Represent the engine system during vehicle-level readiness reviews.
- Establish and maintain verification processes for hardware and software.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with pressurized fluid systems.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in hardware design, assembly, testing, or flight operations.
- Ability to travel between Hawthorne, CA and Starbase, TX up to 10 percent of the time.
- Availability to work weekends and extended hours as required.
- Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in thermodynamics, materials, and compressible or incompressible flow.
- Experience taking hardware from concept to prototype.
- Familiarity with Starship propulsion systems and basic control systems.
- Experience in a fast-paced, changing technical environment.
