CNC Machinist (Starship)

About the role

SpaceX is building the hardware required to make life multi-planetary. This role focuses on the production of both flight and non-flight components for the Starship program, requiring precision machining and operational efficiency.

What you'll do

• Set up, operate, and edit programs for Okuma mill-turn CNC machines.
• Organize daily production schedules to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
• Prepare and measure cutting tools for program execution.
• Deburr hardware directly on the machine to ensure consistency.
• Perform routine weekly and monthly preventative maintenance.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and organization using 5S practices.
• Document process data and complete all necessary work instructions.
• Suggest improvements for tooling, fixture design, and machining methods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in CNC machining.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to stand and kneel for 8 hours.
• Capacity for repetitive physical movements including bending, twisting, and manual handling of tools.
• Comfort working in environments with high noise levels.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of CNC machinery experience.
• Proficiency in Esprit CAD/CAM software.
• Expertise in high efficiency milling and turning.
• Strong skills in blueprint reading, shop math, and measurement.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to cross-train with team members.

Practical notes

• Pay ranges: Level 1 ($23.00 - $27.00/hour), Level 2 ($26.00 - $32.50/hour), Level 3 ($31.00 - $38.00/hour).
• Shift options: 1st shift (5:00 AM) or 2nd shift (2:30 PM).
