About the role
As a Marketing AI Engineer at Sonar, you will be instrumental in creating and managing AI-driven solutions that enhance the efficiency of our marketing operations. Your role will involve collaborating closely with marketing teams to identify automation opportunities and implementing effective workflows. You will also be responsible for tracking the performance of these automations and ensuring they meet the needs of the marketing department.

What you'll do
- Identify and prioritize areas within marketing operations that can benefit from automation, working directly with teams to understand their processes.
- Create AI agents and automated workflows that optimize various marketing tasks, including content creation, campaign management, reporting, and lead handling.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of automation implementations, ensuring they are reliable and effective as they scale.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of automations, providing insights into time savings, error reduction, and overall business impact to marketing leadership.
- Stay informed about the latest AI tools and frameworks, making recommendations for new technologies to adopt or experiment with.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Tooling & AI Operations Manager to ensure that new automations integrate smoothly with existing systems.
- Design automations that prioritize data quality and compliance, ensuring responsible handling of marketing information.
- Create comprehensive documentation for all workflows and conduct training sessions to enable the marketing team to utilize these tools effectively.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing operations, automation engineering, or a related field, with proven success in creating workflows that enhance team productivity.
- In-depth knowledge of marketing processes and tools, including CRM systems (Salesforce), marketing automation platforms, campaign operations, analytics, and content workflows.
- Proficiency in no-code/low-code automation tools (such as Make, Zapier, n8n) and the ability to extend these platforms using scripting languages like Python or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Assistants) or a strong willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
- Experience with third-party API integrations and understanding of marketing data structures (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, GA, Marketo).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in creating performance dashboards and reports for automation initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating automation processes and their significance to non-technical team members, while translating their needs into detailed technical specifications.
- A proactive approach to learning, staying updated on advancements in AI technology and incorporating that knowledge into your work.
- A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
In-office culture
We prioritize in-person collaboration, believing that the best outcomes arise from working together in the same space. Our core office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, fostering a collaborative environment. Candidates must be located in Austin, TX, or be willing to relocate for the position.
