About the role
Solace is a Series C startup focused on simplifying the complex U.S. healthcare system for patients. We are seeking a hands-on security engineer to lead our detection and alerting strategy and manage our security operations.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the Datadog Cloud SIEM, including log pipelines, data enrichment, and retention policies.
- Develop and refine detection rules across AWS, GCP, Okta, Google Workspace, Jamf, Snowflake, GitHub, and Slack.
- Improve alert quality by minimizing noise and tracking metrics like triage time and false-positive rates.
- Align detection coverage with the MITRE ATT&CK framework to address high-risk vulnerabilities.
- Maintain detection logic as code with proper version control and peer review.
- Ensure all audit trails and logging practices remain compliant with HIPAA standards.
- Lead incident response efforts, including triage, investigation, and post-incident documentation.
- Create automation workflows to accelerate threat response and containment.
- Assist with cloud infrastructure hardening, identity management, and SOC 2 audit preparations.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of professional experience in incident response, detection engineering, or security operations.
- Proven ability to build and tune detections within a SIEM, with a strong preference for Datadog Cloud SIEM or equivalent platforms like Splunk, Elastic, Chronicle, Sentinel, or Panther.
- Proficiency in analyzing logs from cloud environments, SaaS applications, and identity providers.
- Demonstrated history of managing security incidents and producing detailed post-mortem reports.
- Scripting skills in Python or similar languages for automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge of common threat vectors such as cloud misconfigurations, credential theft, and supply chain attacks.
- Ability to thrive in a startup environment and build security programs from the ground up.
- Must be based in the United States.
Nice to have
- Background in regulated industries, specifically HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST.
- Experience implementing detection-as-code using Terraform or CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with SOAR platforms like Tines or Windmill.
- Operational experience with Okta, Jamf, Snowflake, GitHub, or Vanta.
- History of threat hunting or contributing to open-source security projects.

Quantum of Solace is the twenty-second film in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions. The spy film was released in 2008 as a direct sequel to Casino Royale. Daniel Craig returns in his second appearance as MI6 agent James Bond. The cast includes Olga Kurylenko as Camille Montes, Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene, Giancarlo Giannini, Jeffrey Wright, and Judi Dench. The plot follows Bond and Montes as they attempt to stop Greene from monopolising the Bolivian freshwater supply. Development on a second Craig film began before Casino Royale started production in October 2005. Roger Michell was initially attached to direct in July 2006 but departed that October following screenplay delays. Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Paul Haggis completed the script by June 2007. Marc Forster was then announced as director. Craig and Forster contributed uncredited rewrites during production. Principal photography began in August 2007 and concluded in May 2008. Filming took place in Mexico, Panama, Chile, Italy, Austria, and Wales. Interior sets were built and shot at Pinewood Studios. The title is borrowed from a 1959 short story by Ian Fleming. The film draws visual inspiration from early Bond production designs by Ken Adam and departs from several traditional villain tropes. Quantum of Solace premiered at Odeon Leicester Square on 29 October 2008. It opened in the United Kingdom two days later and in the United States on 14 November. The film grossed over $589 million worldwide. It became the seventh highest-grossing film of 2008 and the fifth highest-grossing Bond film unadjusted for inflation. Reviews were mixed. Critics praised Craig's performance and the action sequences but considered the film inferior to its predecessor. The next instalment, Skyfall, was released in 2012.
