What you'll do
- Lead the process of extracting and organizing unstructured clinical data, converting documents like prescriptions into precise, actionable information for our systems.
- Develop a clinical review system that mimics the checks conducted by pharmacists, providing transparent reasoning that can be validated.
- Create confidence scoring and routing mechanisms to determine which tasks can be automated and which require human intervention.
- Establish evaluation infrastructure, curated datasets, and feedback loops to enhance accuracy continuously, forming a data-driven improvement cycle.
- Select appropriate tools for various challenges, ranging from fine-tuning large language models to applying traditional machine learning techniques, with a focus on practical, deployable solutions.
- Collaborate closely with pharmacy operations and engineering teams to gain insights that inform model development.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing machine learning systems for production environments, demonstrating ownership of models throughout their lifecycle.
- Extensive knowledge in information extraction, natural language processing, document understanding, and large language models.
- Proficient in managing the infrastructure surrounding models, including evaluation frameworks, data pipelines, and performance metrics.
- Experience working with complex, real-world data where accuracy is critical.
- A practical approach to model development, favoring effective solutions over overly complex ones.
- Experience in startup settings, with a track record of navigating ambiguity and driving projects from inception to completion.
- A genuine interest in the clinical field and a willingness to learn, with the ability to collaborate effectively with pharmacists. A healthcare background is not a prerequisite.

Compensation Range: $170K - $230K base salary, along with valuable early-stage equity and comprehensive benefits.
