Machine Learning Engineer, Level 4

About the role

Snap Inc. is seeking a Level 4 Machine Learning Engineer to develop and launch models that support our core products. You will manage the entire lifecycle of machine learning systems, from initial data analysis to full-scale production deployment. This role focuses on creating scalable, secure, and high-quality features that reach millions of users globally.

What you'll do

• Design and implement machine learning models for core products used by millions.
• Manage the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including data analysis and production deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and release new ML-driven features.

• Use AI-assisted development workflows while auditing generated output for architectural integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of post-Bachelor machine learning experience; or Master degree + 2+ years of post-grad experience; or a PhD in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with ML applications such as ranking, recommendations, search, content understanding, or image generation.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous problems and work independently.
• Strong collaboration and mentorship capabilities.
• Adaptability to evolving AI systems and development trends.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with frameworks including TensorFlow, Caffe2, PyTorch, Spark ML, or scikit-learn.
• Background in ranking infrastructure and system design.

Practical notes

• Compensation: Base salary for Zone A (CA) is $173,000 to $259,000 annually. Zone B is $164,000 to $246,000. Zone C is $147,000 to $220,000.
• Equity: This position is eligible for RSUs.
